H2001. Estimation rates for installation

H2001. Estimation rates for installation

Estimated rates consist of the hourly wage plus associated costs which an employer must pay such as social security contributions, vacation surcharges, etc. Also included are allowances for sickness, special leave and turnover of personnel. In addition there are often other supplements which must also be added. These supplements can vary per company and are dependent on the type of work activities.

The additional allowances are, but are not limited to:

  • costs for use of handtools;
  • costs for personal protection;
  • costs for consumables, such as gas, oxygen, electricity welding rods, etc.;
  • commuting between home and work;
  • travel and lodging costs associated with working on site.

When these additional allowances are added, then we have estimated hourly rates for adult and schooled personnel which are applicable for installation activities.

The estimated rates are exclusive:

  • indirect costs such as supervision by working formen, management costs, overhead, such as company management, insurance, human resources, recruitment and training, IM/IT-support, profit and/or risk;
  • site facilities (site offices, fencing, etc.);
  • the use of large equipment such as cranes, heavy transport material etc. (for such items normally separate hire prices are used);
  • depreciation costs for machines and equipment (often part of the general costs);
  • access such as scaffolding and minilifts;
  • security;
  • warehouse management, etc.;
  • additional uplifts for working in shifts and for hours outside normal day shift.

Remarks

By shift work the estimated rates per manhour should have the following % uplift:

  • 2-shifts system: 10 - 15%;
  • 3-shift system: 15 - 20%;
  • 4-shift system: 20 - 25%.

By 4-shift system working on Sundays and public holidays, as well as displaced hours are all included.
